KAOS Fashion Show 2017!

Hello and happy Easter break! For schools, it is the start of the 2 week break whereas I am halfway through my break. I came back to Leicester last week for two weeks for my cousin’s wedding as I am bridesmaid so it has been quite relaxing until I have to start doing my university work from Monday on-wards. Anyway, last year, I took part in the KAOS fashion show at my university (here) and modelled for New Look. This year, I modelled for Lady B Loves, a vintage clothing line in Norwich. We got our makeup done by makeup artists of Charlotte Tilbury and my look was the ‘dolce vita’ face chart, consisting of purple eyeshadow and eyeliner. Continue reading

Paris in Pictures

Hello! It has been a while since I last posted (I was going to do a post last week but I forgot lol lol) and what better way than to talk about my short visit to Paris during Fashion Week! I went with the UEA Fashion Society and out of the 13, 5 were myself and housemates. It was the first time we travelled abroad together as we did go to London frequently over the summer and despite the short stay, it was fun! I was not too bummed out on missing any landmarks as I am actually going to Paris again in September (I love my September holidays!) where the weather will hopefully be a lot better. Without further ado, here are some of my photos taken on my Panasonic Lumix G7 and my Google Pixel. Continue reading

End of the Year

Hello, and Happy Christmas! I hope everyone had a great day with your loved ones and your presents were everything you wanted and the food was delicious etc etc etc… I wanted to write this post before New Year’s and out of the way so I can go back to my priorities. Long story short: I couldn’t reach my deadlines and so I have extensions for the second week of January. Nonetheless, I have come with a game plan and hope to submit it way before then with time to edit it. Everyone knows the essay struggles, it just sucks that it had to hit me in the year that it counts towards my final grade. Continue reading

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (no spoilers)

#KeeptheSecrets.

The main purpose of our mini holiday in London was because of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which has been planned since October 2015 and I went with all but one of my housemates and my old flatmate from halls. I wanted to write this post to illustrate my experience when we went to see the preview screenings of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child from our time in London and getting to see the play itself. What I got for my birthday

This Friday, it was my birthday. I am no longer in my teens and right now, I am OK with it. Unless I screw up then the panic will settle in. I’ll be updating this post (if you want) with more photos but for now, this is what I got from my wonderful friends at university because I am currently at home in Leicester for a week since I’m not going home for the four month summer.

My wishlist

Since living in halls, the original flatmates would do a joint gift with a rough limit per person because students. I knew this was going to happen to me so I had an idea on what I wanted and plus I’m not fond of surprises since my reaction goes either horribly wrong or complete overwhelm. The two main things I wanted from my housemates nee flatmates was a yankee candle and a makeup book by Bobbi Brown. From anyone else, I wasn’t expecting anything because their attendance at my BBQ (which was a fail I might add) was enough for me.

Reality

I knew my Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual was a given, I sent the link to my housemate! But I didn’t get a Yankee Candle. Instead, I got a Tinkerbell sticky note set (not seen in picture because I misplaced it temporarily) because I love Tinkerbell and a £10 MAC gift card which I was not expecting at all, so I’ll probably be buying MAC Fix+ as well as putting money on top of it. Our house has gotten an extension so in the new contract year, there will be seven of us from five and one of my new housemates bought me flowers! I’m not a flower gal but the gesture was so sweet because I wasn’t expecting that. Just like the rest of my gifts! My other new housemate couldn’t come to the main event but she arrived before and gave me a cupcake and a bracelet and the cupcake was tasty.

From other people outside my housemates, a couple of my friends bought me a box of chocolates so that’s going to be my snack time in the next weeks or so (maybe I’ll share it with my girls…). Another present was the graphic novel Persepolis and while it is an incredible gift, I actually bought a copy in Easter so if anyone is interested in a copy of Persepolis (the one I bought and not my gift one) then please let me know!!! From work, one of my beautiful colleagues bought me a strawberry shaped photo frame and a cactus shaped candle which is really cute. But the most surprising present came from my coursemates.

My degree consists of 13 or 14 students. There aren’t many of us so 9 of them came to my birthday party on Friday. When they gave me my wrapped gift, I was just expecting a box of chocolates but they completely threw me off. They bought me the Urban Decay Through the Looking Glass eyeshadow palette. On a student budget, that’s hella pricey so I wasn’t even considering to buy it myself. So when I saw it, I was so surprised. The palette is so beautiful and I was not expecting it at all. So yes, it was a brilliant birthday!

I hope you guys have a brilliant day, to those have any exams, good luck and I hope you have a fantastic summer (or winter in the Southern hemisphere!)

Life Update

I was supposed to write this earlier this week when I submitted my final assignment of the year, but I had no idea on how to structure it so I just did a beauty related blog. Secondly, I was planning to write this over the weekend, but let’s face it, I have way more time on my hands now. It’s not a major life update since it usually consisted of university but I felt like I needed to fill the gaps. My last post before this week was written on the 16th April so I shall work chronologically from there. I hope you enjoy this post 🙂

University

Week beginning 18th April was probably one of the most stressful weeks I have endured in a while. On Monday, my friend and I went to the university’s Talent Show to support our friend’s performance; on Tuesday we went on a rather dead night out; Wednesday was a gig (Nothing But Thieves, who were brilliant might I add); Thursday was Go Global which I performed for Bengali Society so between each event I attended during that week also consisted of long rehearsals; Friday was a module trip to Hampton Court; and finally, the weekend consisted of working. It didn’t help that the following Monday and Thursday I had an assignment deadline so after work consisted of evening trips to the library. I also became part of two society committees, which is a big thing attached to university life My last deadline arrived on the 3rd May and I managed to boss a 3000 word essay in two days.

Other stuff

This summer will be the first time that I won’t be going home during the university break. The main reason is because of my job, and realistically, I am going to be paying for rent and bills for my university home over the summer regardless of if I am here or not, and I will be so bored at home for four months. So going home for a week or so will be a treat for me. However, I am from Leicester and if anyone follows football/soccer, you would have heard by now the fairytale story of winning the league. It makes me sad that I am not back home with the celebrations as well as missing the victory parade but the feeling that my home city is being recognised is somewhat strange yet exciting. Leicester is a lovely city but man, it is boring. Hopefully this achievement will lead to more activities. Tomorrow after work, I will be watching the game against Everton where they will be lifting the trophy, I can only imagine the excitement the city has overall, and I’m sure I would have heard celebrations from my house (and I don’t live that close to the stadium!)

I watched Captain America: Civil War on release day (29th April here in the UK) AND IT WAS AWESOME SO I AM PLANNING ON WATCHING IT AGAIN. I went on a bit of a shopping spree that day, from New Look sales to even buying a Marc Jacobs perfume. I’ve always wanted one but didn’t really need it, but it’s still a good purchase. On Saturday 30th, I went to Cambridge for a Level 1 Photography Course at Jessops. It was the earliest one while being the most accessible from Norwich so I sacrificed my good sleep to travel early to Cambridge. It was a really good course and an excellent way to understand how to use a DSLR/Mirrorless camera without the automatic functions. I bought accessories for my lens at a discounted rate as well as a level 1 video course that is only available in Oxford Street so I guess I will be making a trip to London sometime during the Summer. Another thing was that over Easter, I worked with the Norwich Film Festival to conduct an e-mail interview with an independent filmmaker, Carol Morley. It felt surreal to see my questions being answered so I hope to do more over the summer. Here’s the link to the article: http://www.norwichfilmfestival.co.uk/in-conversation-with-the-brilliant-writerdirector-carol-morley

Finally… My beauty purchases

I have mentioned my lovely perfume but I bought other things that I didn’t need because that is just who I am. As I am not doing a YouTube Made Me Buy It post this weekend, my next post during the week will be on my palette collection! And a new addition is the Carli Bybel Palette. I bought it due to the affordability and the international shipping rates of BHcosmetics is pretty decent so I thought ‘why not!’. You’ll see in my post that one of the highlight shades did break during delivery but I’m not actually that fussed on returns/exchanges since it did travel from the west coast. However, just as I was about to upload this post, I received an email from BHcosmetics regarding my broken shadow and they have said they will be sending me a replacement without the need to send this one back! I will still do my original post but will update my palette to see if the other palette arrives safely. Other products have been Real Techniques brushes so once they all arrive, I will probably do a post on my brush collection 🙂

This sums up the past few weeks in review, the next couple of events that are happening soon is my birthday, going home for five days, and in June I will be going to London for a few days with my friends to see the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play. Exciting times! Have a wonderful day everyone.
